Undoubtedly, the best way to restore a yacht is to preserve the original solutions and technology, so that despite the replacement of elements with new ones, the structure remains consistent with the intention of the designer or builder.
ALE
The customer can not always afford solutions of this type. That was the case here. The keel bent, the bottoms detached from the plating, a number of frames cracked. In order to save labor/hours, we decided not to remove the old frames but to add twins (not heat bent but glued). We removed the old knotty larch bottoms (these are the ones from the “boatbuilder’s Christmas tree”) and replaced them with new oak ones, also changing their position due to the condition of the sheathing.
I will describe the topic of straightening and strengthening the keel another time
