Each implementation shows a different scope of work, different challenges and different needs of the vessel owner. At Planker Yacht Service<\/strong>, we perform both minor service repairs<\/strong> and extensive overhauls of hulls<\/strong>, spars, laminates, rudder components and wooden structures. <\/p>\n

On this subpage we present a selection of projects that best demonstrate the nature of our work. Here you will find wooden units requiring a traditional boatbuilding approach, laminate yachts after osmosis repairs or hull damage, as well as work on steel units and elements requiring corrosion protection. <\/p>\n

Realizations<\/strong> are the best proof of quality for us. They show not only the final result, but also the stages of preparation, repair and finishing. This allows the yacht owner to see how we approach details, construction and aesthetics. <\/p>\n

m\/y Granny Irenka – A classic in a modern edition<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Motorboat L=5.5m lap sheathing, mahogany, oak deck, bent frames. Production ca. 1964. – Sweden). <\/em><\/p>\n

This project combined renovation with modernization from the beginning. The future target body of water put the shipowner in a difficult situation. A motorboat with a conventional internal combustion engine could not navigate the lake as it had twenty years ago, since it was classified as a so-called “quiet zone. The craft had been in the family for decades and the owner did not want to part with it despite the fact that it had stood idle for more than a dozen years. Thanks to our support, the boat was back on the water within a few months. The boatbuilding work consisted of replacing 21pcs of frames and 3 bottoms. Sealing the plating of the bottom and transom. Restoration of varnish and paint layers inside and outside. Replacing windows and making minor repairs to the bodywork. Modernization consisted in the installation of an electric motor from Torqeedo together with a power and control system. It was necessary to carry out a new electrical system interacting with the system.
\nThus, the “old lady” in its new appearance could return in the spring to her former body of water without disturbing the silence, enjoying the former owners the pleasure of relaxing on the water.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/a><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div>

s\/y Rozpi\u00f3r – star class yachts<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Production 1935 Germany, Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard. L=6.9m displacement 770kg gross area. 26m2. <\/em><\/p>\n

The Star was the oldest and most prestigious Olympic racing yacht class. It was considered one of the most difficult in sport sailing, as it required great physical fitness and precision. Restoring a racing vessel that had stood unused for decades was no small challenge. Under the watchful eye of an inspector from the College of Class Yacht Surveyors, the restoration was carried out with all the necessary requirements. In record time, just four months (from May to the end of August 2011) we transformed the old Star into a floating mahogany masterpiece with a piano finish. The timing was crucial because the vessel was to perform at the 100th anniversary of the Star class in Saint Tropez. An additional recognition of our restoration work was the fact that members of the American Star class federation present at the regatta declared that, to their knowledge, this was the best restored 100-percent class Star in the world!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Riva Super Florida<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

When we won the tender for the National Council of Ministers in 2013 and the Riva Super Florida came to us, we felt the excitement but also the unique responsibility placed on us. Maintaining as much integrity and originality as possible for such a unique vessel was a major consideration for us from the beginning. This artisanal work of art was painstakingly restored by us to its original luster, preserving such niceties as the original Cadillac steering wheel, and painting with the Stoppani lacquer system, originally used by the Italian manufacturer of these boats. All the chrome got a new shine and the seats got new upholstery along the lines of that used on this model, the 177-horsepower heart of the unit from Chrysler’s stable underwent the necessary service work. The result has exceeded expectations and Riva will be able to be a source of admiration wherever she appears for decades to come.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/a><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div>

s\/y Delfin – Star class<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Sometimes the only way to preserve a yacht, its history and the technical thought it contains is to completely rebuild it. A certain old Swedish master boatbuilder put it very aptly – “A wooden yacht is like a building from blocks. You can replace any part and if you do it right it will sail as before. You can replace all its parts. It will be a matter of time, a matter of funds, but one thing you can’t change… it’s the soul of the yacht, which will always stay in it” In the case of Dolphin, it was necessary to follow exactly this path. We rebuilt her mahogany hull based on oak frames completely according to the archival documentation of the class of 1924. All fittings were made in the shape of the old ones and the mast, over 10 meters long, was glued together from 4 layers of Oregon pine. The deck is covered with traditional cotton canvas protected by paint. Only the ballast has stood the test of time and carries the soul of the old Dolphin.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Polonaise<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The yacht first came into our hands in 2006. At that time we undertook the completion of the reconstruction started several years earlier to adapt the yacht to cruising. We made the entire cockpit and the upper part of the deckhouse, the so-called pilot house, in polyester-glass laminate technology finished with gelcoat. We made the entire interior and laid teak mockup on the deck. <\/p>\n

When in 2018 a new owner of the vessel approached us with an inquiry about the possibility of modernization, we welcomed it with open arms. They say that the appetite grows as you eat. The same was the case with this project. There were big changes inside the unit. The new engine was to stand on a new foundation much closer to the stern. All installations had to be replaced, a new main bulkhead had to be built and the interior had to be completely rebuilt according to the new owner’s wishes. We were proud to see that after more than 10 years the teak deck laid by our company only required replacement of the sealant (sikaflex) and after a light restoration it still looked like new.
\nThis project requires close cooperation of professionals from many trades (rigger, sailmaker, locksmiths, plumbing, mechanics, yacht electronics, air conditioning and ventilation, stonemason, lounge upholsterer, bimini upholsterer, boat builders). The entire renovation and conversion process took more than two years. With the right facilities and experience, we were able to safely guide the owner along this bumpy road to his dream yacht goal.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Boomerang<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Boomerang” is an example of a living vessel, constantly approaching the vision of an ideal yacht that its owner has in his imagination. Almost every season, for the past few years, we have been modernizing the vessel a bit during the winter shutdown, so that this once racing yacht gives comfort to the crew and pleases the eye. Considerable changes have taken place in the cockpit of the vessel, necessary for the installation of the fairing. The renewal of the varnish coatings, or the new veneer of the transom and cockpit tub are just a few of the works we have completed. We are pleased that the shipowner always comes back to us for further services giving the best proof of satisfaction with the cooperation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Da-Wi<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

“I hope you will not be frightened.” We have heard it more than once, and we are not afraid of any renovation or reconstruction. Everything is a matter of time and resources. Da-Wi came to us in deplorable condition. With no plating in the bow section, no rudder, centerboard, tongs, with the centerboard box falling apart and the deck to be repaired. The deadline was short and the scope was considerable. The project was completed on time and the boat was able to appear at the Wind and Water Fair arousing the interest of visitors. Especially her deck, covered with traditional cotton canvas, painted white, was no small curiosity.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Magnolia<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

For general overhauls, taking a yacht out of service for several months is painful for many owners. However, it is not always necessary to skip the sailing seasons. With proper planning of the work, it is possible to restore, even a highly exploited vessel, to full strength within 3-4 winter periods. Such a renovation plan is being carried out on the Magnolia yacht. Almost every element of the hull will eventually be renovated, repaired or replaced. Despite such a wide range of activities, the vessel in the summer season will do what it was created for – sail!
\nToday we have completed the first stage of this journey. We managed to repair or reinforce more than a dozen frames, replace almost 40mb of planking, and seal the seams between the planking on the bottom (along with replacing the ditching). Winter will come for the next
