Holzmasten geh\u00f6ren immer mehr der Vergangenheit an. Es lohnt sich nicht, dar\u00fcber zu streiten. Daf\u00fcr gibt es einen guten Grund. Sie sind immer schwerer als ihre Cousins aus Leichtmetall und erfordern erfahrene Bootsbauer, um sie richtig zusammenzubauen. Hinzu kommt, dass das Material, aus dem sie gebaut werden, in guter Qualit\u00e4t immer schwieriger zu bekommen ist.
\nABER!
\nEin einfacher Kastenmast f\u00fcr eine kleine Offshore-Yacht (26-30′) kann unter einem Zelt f\u00fcr einen Bruchteil des Preises eines neuen Riggs ohne gro\u00dfe Kenntnisse und ungew\u00f6hnliche Werkzeuge gebaut werden. Es gibt sogar eine einfachere Methode, einen Holzmast zu bauen, und das ist genau der richtige Baum! Um den amerikanischen Segler, Bootsbauer und Konstrukteur George Buehler zu zitieren: „Es gibt viele B\u00e4ume, die zu Masten gemacht sind (…) wenn ich einen Baum ausw\u00e4hle, der den Ma\u00dfen eines fertigen Mastes nahe kommt, dann erhalte ich, nachdem ich \u00c4ste und Rinde entfernt habe, in 45 Minuten mit einem Elektrohobel in der Hand einen Spieren, der bereit zum Aufriggen ist!
\nAuch Holzmasten k\u00f6nnen repariert werden. Genau wie dieser Bezan-Mast auf den Fotos. Bei Masten ist es wichtig, eine angemessene Fasenl\u00e4nge (1-15 – 1-20) einzuhalten. Diese betr\u00e4chtliche L\u00e4nge ergibt sich nicht aus der notwendigen Klebefl\u00e4che, sondern aus dem ‚Arbeitseffekt‘ einer solchen Verbindung. Je l\u00e4nger sie ist, desto geringer ist die Steifigkeit an der Reparaturstelle und desto geringer ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit eines zuk\u00fcnftigen Bruchs.<\/p>\n<\/div>
